Health Guide | How to exercise with allergies or a summer cold

Despite the sunshine and heatwaves there are still a few sniffles going around. Its good to know what is the best approach to exercise when you have a cold. Check out our simple guide.
Know your symptoms
-
Mild, above the neck: gentle movement like walking, mobility or active recovery practices are okay
-
Below the neck including chest congestion, aches and high temperature: Rest to recover
Listen to your body
-
Overexertion can delay recovery and sometimes even make things worse. Prioritise rest, breathwork and mindful recovery. Simple low intensity movement can help reduce achy joints and get things moving. Our Movement Accessories Pack and a Mat can come in really handy here to help facilitate mindful breathing, relaxation and positioning.
What to try
-
Some easy Yoga, stretching or perhaps a round of lower intensity body weight exercises. The point here is to reduce the intensity and go with the feel. Often with a cold, inversion and going from floor to standing quickly may not feel so good, so these are good to avoid. Start easy and build up. Check out our YouTube channel for some inspiration.
